Importance of the pen in the history of modern civilizations
Civilizations have survived over time thanks to their organizational systems and the establishment of administration, in turn facilitating trade and accelerating growth. We’ll explore how the pen made it all possible.
Present in gregarious, representative or figurative form, writing finds its roots several millennia before our era. Many traces of times of yesteryear filled with currently little known civilizations which had their moments of glory. The pens of today are the styluses of the past ; the sheets of paper and pdf files are the tablets man once used. The content is also similar : stories of daily life, administrative reports, inventories, or pure fantasy for entertainment.
Thanks to pens, our ancestors were able to share tidbits of their daily lives with us. They were witnesses of major events, and the records we now have of previous time periods allow us to better understand the acts of the past so as not to repeat the same mistakes. After all, even if technologies, customs and cultures have evolved, man remains man and we are not without flaws.
Let us thank those who took the time to observe and understand their own wrongs and faults in order to offer us avenues for improvement, so that our own difficulties may be gone. This is enabled by the pen in that the writer, realizing his mistakes and futility, takes the time to describe them and develop his own emotions and feelings in order to share them with us. Where each individual is unique, he is also a man and must learn from others, otherwise he will stumble on the same path as those before him.
